On Saturday, August 22nd, Pacific Opera had the privilege of performing with the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Dr Nicholas Milton AM, to a small, socially distanced, but live audience at the Chatswood Concourse. The programme, aptly titled 'A Mozart Celebration', featured a selection of Mozart arias and ensembles as well as some stunning orchestral pieces.
This was the first public performance held in New South Wales since the March lockdown and restrictions, and we are immensely grateful to everyone involved in bringing it to fruition.

As social distancing restrictions began to lift in New South Wales, we were determined to create an opportunity for our artists to perform again for a live audience. Throughout the year, each of our young artists were tasked with a role study - and some studied up to three or more roles!
Our Artistic Director, Peter Coleman-Wright AO, skilfully reduced and directed six popular operas into a running time of under 60 minutes, to allow us to present the works to a small audience while following COVID-19 regulations. The operas; The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni, The Magic Flute, Idomeneo, La Cenerentola and La Clemenza di Tito, were a huge success.
