Pocket Opera Series
Albert Herring
Pacific Opera presents Britten’s Albert Herring for one performance only at the Independent Theatre in North Sydney. In an abridged Pocket Opera form we follow the shy Herring’s loss of innocence as he becomes the “May King” and divulges in a night of debauchery.
Come and meet the colourful characters of the small (made up) East Suffolk market town of Loxford in this comic opera that celebrates some of Britten’s wittiest musical inventions and his gift for parody and caricature. Directed by Peter Coleman-Wright AO, the performance will feature singers from the Pacific Opera Young Artist Program.
Join us before the show for an afternoon tea (to be purchased with ticket) and interview with Young Artists and international soprano Cheryl Barker AO.
Tickets can be purchased individually, and with afternoon tea.
