Stacey Alleaume - Soprano
Australian-Mauritian Soprano Stacey Alleaume is a rising star.
After winning the Sydney Eisteddfod Opera Scholarship, the Herald Sun Aria and the
Dame Joan Sutherland Scholarship, in her first year as a member of the Moffatt Oxenbould Young Artist Program at Opera Australia, Stacey made three role debuts at the Sydney Opera House: Micaëla in Carmen, Leïla in The Pearl Fishers and Alexandra Mason in The Eighth Wonder.
Further principal roles include: Violetta Valéry (La Traviata), Flower Maiden 1 (Parsifal) and Valencienne (The Merry Widow). In 2018 she makes her debut as Fiorilla in Il Turco in Italia, and covers Gilda in Rigoletto.
Amelia Farrugia - Soprano
Amelia Farrugia is Australia’s favourite star soprano.
She has performed Major Principal roles for Opera Australia since 1994.
Most recent performances include: appearing with the Darwin and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras, a role debut as Cunegonde in Bernstein’s Candide for Opera Queensland and Genio in Hadyn’s Orfeo ed Euridice under the baton of Maestro Bonynge. She debuted her own show DIVA!, at City Recital Hall featuring associate artists Tamara-Anna Cislowska and Elena Kats-Chernin in August 2017.
Internationally, she joined the roster of soloists at The Metropolitan Opera in New York, and covered the title roles of Massenet’s Manon and Lehar’s The Merry Widow. Amelia has also performed for Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Opera Hong Kong and the Spoleto Festival in Italy.
Warwick Fyfe - Baritone
Warwick Fyfe is a Helpmann Award-winning singer and is considered one of Australia’s finest baritones. Warwick has a long association with Opera Australia and, more recently, has been expanding his international career working with English Touring Opera, Welsh National Opera, New Zealand Opera and performing in concert in Australia, the U.K, New Zealand, Singapore and Vietnam. In 2016/2017, he sang Alberich (Der Ring des Nibelungen), Paolo (Simon Boccanegra), Bartolo (Il barbiere di Siviglia) and Klingsor (Parsifal) for Opera Australia, Alberich (Das Rheingold) in Tokyo and Peter (Hansel and Gretel) in Singapore. He returns to OA in 2018 as Beckmesser (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), Sancho Panza (Don Quichotte), Amonasro (Aida) and Geronio (Il Turco in Italia).
Warwick has consistently produced outstanding performances in challenging and complex roles including Rigoletto, Falstaff, The Dutchman (Der fliegende Holländer); Mandryka (Arabella); The Four Villains (The Tales of Hoffmann); Dr Schön (Lulu); Amonasro (Aida); Scarpia (Tosca); Faninal (Der Rosenkavalier); Wolfram (Tannhäuser); Papageno (The Magic Flute); Germont (La traviata); Faninal (Der Rosenkavalier); Leporello (Don Giovanni) and Pizarro (Fidelio). Other roles include: Bartolo in Il barbiere di Siviglia; Pooh-Bah in The Mikado; Schaunard in La bohème; Peter in Hansel and Gretel; Falke in Die Fledermaus; Jupiter in Orpheus in the Underworld; Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro; The Herald in Lohengrin; Ottokar in Der Freischütz; Ping in Turandot; Tonio in Pagliacci and Taddeo in L'italiana in Algeri).
Warwick was the recipient of a Helpmann Award for his 2013 performance as Alberich in the Melbourne Ring Cycle. Other awards include: Bayreuth Scholarship 2007; Green Room Award, 2005 (Schaunard in La bohème); Leopold Julian Kronenberg Foundation Award (Stanislaw Moniuszko International Vocal Competition, Warsaw) 2000; Bayreuth Bursary, 2000; The McDonald's Aria, 1998 (Winner). Helpmann nominations also include Papageno (The Magic Flute) and Daland (Der fliegende Holländer). In 2015, he was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to study Wagnerian vocal technique in Germany, the US and the U.K.
Concert engagements include performances with the Sydney, Melbourne, Queensland, West Australian, Adelaide and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras; the Warsaw Symphony Orchestra, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the Music Makers (Singapore); Orchestra Wellington (NZ); Auckland Philharmonia; Melbourne Chorale; Sydney Philharmonia; Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Society; Melbourne Bach Choir and Canberra Choral Society. Liane Keegan - Dramatic Contralto
Born in Australia, Liane received scholarships from the Opera Foundation Australia, Shell Royal Covent Garden Scholarship which enabled her to study at the National Opera Studio London. She attended the AIMS summer School in Graz Austria on the Opera Australia Foundation Scholarship and in 1997, she won a Bayreuth Bursary from the Wagner Society of Great Britain.
Liane came to the attention of both critics and public alike with roles including Azucena Il Trovatore for Opera of South Australia, Ulrica Un Ballo in Maschera for Opera Australia conducted by Simone Young. Mistress Quickly in the Minnesota Sommerfest production of Falstaff conducted by Jeffrey Tate. Suzuki Madame Butterfly with Opera North. First Norn The Twilight of the Gods with English National Opera and Offreds Mother in The Handmaids tale. Rosa Mamai L Árlesiana, Marcellina Le Nozze di Figaro with Opera Holland Park London. Filipjevna Eugene Onegin, First Norn with Staatstheater Stuttgart. Klytemnestra Elektra, Brigitte Die Tote Stadt, Leocadja Begbick Aufstieg und fall der stadt Mahagonny with Theater Hagen (ensemble member 2006-2008). Since returning to Australia permanently in 2012, Liane has appeared with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra/BBC UK in The last night of the Proms singing Elgar’s Sea Pictures conducted by Sir Andrew Davis and as Albine in Thais by Massenet and as the Alto Soloist in Beethoven 9th symphony .The Royal Melbourne Philharmonic conducted by Andrew Wailes appearing in The Music Makers and Sea Pictures by Elgar. This concert is available on cd. Alto solo in Alexander Nevsky by Prokoviev and Erda in the RMP Wagner Spectacular. Liane appeared as Erda in Opera Australia’s Der Ring des Niebelungen in Melbourne in 2016. Alto soloist Mahler 8 Zelman Symphony Orchestra conducted by Mark Shiells. Liane appeared as Siegrune Die Walkure Act 3 in the reopening of Hamer Hall Gala Concert. Guest artist with Victorian Opera in the White nights Gala. Mary in Der Fliegende Hollander and as the Old lady and The Princess in Respighi’s Sleeping Beauty with Victorian Opera. Guest Artist with Ludovico’s Band singing Monteverdi arias and duets. Liane appears regularly as the Alto soloist with Heidelburg Chorale in such works as The Messiah, Rossini Petite Messe Solenelle and most recently in Elijah.
Liane appears as Erda, 1st Norn and Waltraute Die Walkure on the 2004 Melba Records recording of the first Australian Ring Cycle conducted by Asher Fisch.
Future engagements include, the roles of Edwige in William Tell, Genevieve in Pelleas and Mellisande with Victorian Opera. The Alto solo in Bernstein Symphony 1 and Mahler Rueckert Lieder and selections from Bernstein’s Broadway show tunes with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
Simon - Tenor
Background: Born, Korea. Graduated in voice from Kyung-Hee University in 1992. Moved to Italy later that year and undertook postgraduate studies in Genoa, Perugia and at the Salzburg Mozarteum in Austria. In Italy, Simon has won several top prizes including 1st place in many international vocal competitions and appeared as soloist in numerous concert performances around the country. Moved to Sydney in 2009 and has become a principal artist with
OA repertoire: Calaf: Turandot, Nisias: Thais, Macduff: Macbeth, Herald: Don Carlos, Remendado: Carmen, Great Opera Hits,
Other Companies: Ferrando: Così fan tutte, Nemorino: L’elisir d’amore, Alfredo: La traviata, Rodolfo: La Bohème, title role: Werther. Also sang major roles in professional productions of Korean operas – with these companies, he toured to China and Germany. On the concert platform, he has appeared with all the major Korean symphony orchestras as well as the Central Russia National Orchestra and the Ukraine Symphony Orchestra. In 2008, Simon was invited to give a solo recital at the Russian National Art Academy in Vladivostok
